Welcome Sibyl!

Liza and I are pleased to announce a new member to the Is That a Romance Book in Your Pocket team…Sibyl Eisley! Welcome, Sibyl, we’re so excited to have you join us.

Sibyl kindly let us interview her so we can all get to know her better. But first, here’s the cover and summary of her latest book, If You Run.

If You Run - Cover

Fifer Parry has had a crush on Cecil Hatchfeld for months, ever since Cecil started working as her stepdad’s assistant. Cecil’s tall, handsome, and slightly mysterious—and once Fifer actually talks to him, it turns out they really click.

But even though she might have found the right guy, it’s neither the right time nor the right place for Cecil. He’s leaving for the opposite side of the country in a matter of weeks, and he’s certain that he doesn’t want to come back. Fifer can’t let a potential Mr. Right disappear so soon…

So, she packs her bags and joins him on a cross-country road trip.

It would be the perfect solution, except Fifer has a life waiting for her back home, over two thousand miles away. Cecil’s convinced a long distance relationship wouldn’t work out. But Fifer can’t ignore their deep connection, both emotional and physical, and she’ll do whatever it takes to prove him wrong.

You can buy the book here.

Now on to the interview!

Why do you write Romance?

It’s one of my favorite genres to read. I love the will-they-won’t-they, the meet cutes, and how you just know that two characters are so right for each other, but either they can’t see it, or something gets in their way. It’s just so much fun!

Do you have any favorite romance tropes (e.g. secret baby, second chance romance, brother’s best friend)? If so, what’s a book you’ve loved that rocked that trope?

Yes! My favorite trope is forbidden love, particularly professor/student relationships, despite never having a hot teacher in my own life to crush on. I’ve seen a number of stories do this well. One that I really enjoyed is Your Gravity by L.G. Castillo.

What’s your favorite book, movie, song, or TV show?

I have a lot of favorites, depending on what I’m in the mood for, but I’ll name a few that I’ve loved for years. Movie: When Harry Met Sally. TV Show: Gilmore Girls. Book: The Bean Trees and Pigs in Heaven, both by Barbara Kingsolver. Song: The Ocean by Tegan and Sara.

What does a perfect day of writing look like to you?

A perfect writing day would be one where I didn’t even realize the day’s already over, because I was too involved in the story I was writing.

If you could know one of your characters in real life, who would it be?

That’s a tough question! As much as I love writing my hunky heroes, I’m already married to a fantastic guy, so there’s no need to meet them. 🙂 I’ll go with Guinevere, one of my female characters. She’s total best friend material: very sensible, intelligent, and a great listener.

What’s your favorite writing nosh?

Peanut butter! Either on crackers, or as filling in peanut butter cookies, or just by itself. Of course, I keep a napkin handy, so I don’t get my keyboard all gooey. It’s excellent brain fuel!

Thanks so much for interviewing me!

First love: Butterfly

Butterfly by Kathryn Harvey is one of the first romance books I remember reading. It was my mom’s and I probably picked it up while home from college. It was the first time I’d read a book with such vivid sex scenes, and where those scenes were important to the story in a different way from usual, because they weren’t about the development of a relationship between one man and one woman.

Butterfly cvr

I remember going back to Butterfly again and again, throughout college and grad school, sometimes just reading a scene or two (you can guess which scenes). Having been a late bloomer, those were years when I was exploring my sexuality, and I was captivated by those scenes.

Butterfly is the story of Beverly Highland, a successful entrepreneur who secretly runs a high class brothel for women in Beverly Hills, and how she became who she is today and how she plans to take revenge on someone who put her on her path. Beverly’s story is interspersed with the stories of three of the brothel’s patrons, their sexual fantasies, and why they need the brothel.

Until I wrote this post, I had no idea Butterfly was the first in a trilogy. I’ll have to go back and read the other two!

What romance was your first love?

* There are several covers of this book because it has been reissued several times, but this is the cover of the book I own.

Cover Reveal: Fierce Protector

I’ve been wanting to share this cover with the world since my designer first sent it to me–he did an amazing job, and I love everything about it!

Story first, though! (Go ahead & scroll down, you impatient minxes. You can always scroll back up to read the description.)

Miranda Hsin is a grad student with a goal: grab her mountain lion samples and get the hell out of the woods. She doesn’t mind nature and she’s great at tracking her quarry, but there’ve been some strange footprints—barefoot human footprints—in a stretch of forest that should be free of people. She’s used to having all the answers, but suddenly she’s without a clue.

In danger of being banished from his pride, Gabriel Fournier came to the forest to forget his brother’s mate. Now he’s finally got his eye on a woman who can make him forget all about Hera, and Gabriel has a chance at happiness…if only the two of them can put enough faith in their love to shake off Miranda’s advisor, a woman intent on using Gabriel as a science project.

And, the cover!

Fierce Protector is the third book in the Sierra Pride series, and it’s available for pre-order on Amazonand AmazonSmile. It’s also up on Goodreads.

Cover Reveal: Night Spots

Night Spots will publish on July 5th! You can preorder it now on Amazon.

Here’s the blurb:

Tara Murray is an Aussie on a mission to see the world. Her gap year has been enlightening, but gets much more exciting when she meets a Kenyan-American heartthrob with a killer smile. But she’s not in Nairobi to meet guys, not even to help her get over the unrequited love she left behind.

Nelson Kimani isn’t looking for a serious relationship. He’ll only be in Nairobi for a couple of months, following a semester working at a safari lodge, and then he’ll head home to the U.S. to finish his graduate degree. But Tara knocks this leopard shifter off his haunches. He wants to get to know the bold, curvy Aussie better, physically at first, and see where things go. But she won’t let him in.

What will happen when Tara discovers Nelson’s biggest secret, the wild animal inside?

This is a multicultural, interracial romance with a little bit of spice and a happily-ever-after. This is a stand-alone short, recommended for ages 18 and up.

Cover Reveal: Fierce Heartbreaker

It seems like Fierce Wanderer just came out, like, yesterday, but Fierce Heartbreaker is on deck! I hope y’all love the cover as much as I do. First–what’s it about?

After Jude Fournier broke her heart six years ago, it took Ava Stricket a long time to get on with her life. Now she’s back to help out her newly-widowed mother, and Jude’s presence is just as distracting as ever. Her overprotective brothers and uncle don’t need to worry, though—Ava’s had a lot of time to harden her heart to Jude’s charms, not only to protect herself, but her daughter as well.

But Jude isn’t going to give up so easily. Despite the hostility from her family and the new imbalance in his pride, he slowly works to win Ava back. His mountain lion chose Ava as his mate years ago, and he’ll do whatever it takes to prove to Ava that he loves her and wants her back in his life—and this time, he’ll never let her go.

Brace yourself for sexy man flesh…
